Does your garage door cause a lot of noise? There are a couple of factors that can cause this. It could be a small problem that you could fix yourself, or it just may be time to replace one of your garage door parts.

Loose Garage Door Rollers

Old garage door rollers can be the source of the problem. If they are not properly aligned or fitted, the movement will be noisy and not entirely smooth. It may be time to replace your rollers to eliminate the noise and loose movement. But you could also apply metal lubricant on them, this also helps reduce noise. If you have metal rollers and you plan to replace your rollers, we would recommend getting nylon rollers instead. They are much quieter.

Chain Drive Garage Door Openers

A chain drive garage door opener is the loudest type of garage door opener. If you really care about the noise, you should consider replacing your garage door opener with the quieter belt drive garage door opener.

Tighten the Nuts and Bolts

If your garage door is old, all its nuts and bolts are probably loose by now. You should tighten them to ensure your garage door parts work in their best condition. This may reduce some noise.

Worn Out Garage Door Hinges

Garage door hinges can too aged and worn out too. Door hinges can also cause noise. They can be cracked. If they are, you should replace them as soon as possible. You can lubricate hinges for noise reduction.
